If you took a look around my house right now, you’d see piles of unfolded laundry, mislaid toys, and a living room that looks like a miniature tornado swept through it.
I’m not going to sugarcoat it: the transition back to work with twin toddlers is intense.
Between managing two active toddlers who seem to move in opposite directions at all times, keeping up with a new work routine, and trying to keep the house running, my stress levels have definitely peaked this week. It feels like as soon as one corner of the room is picked up, three other areas explode. Some days, just getting through the to-do list feels like a marathon.
If you are currently sitting in the middle of your own chaotic living room, feeling overwhelmed by the endless piles and the pressure to have it all together, here is your friendly reminder:
- The Mess is Temporary: The laundry can wait. The disorganized corners aren’t a reflection of your worth or success as a parent.
- Grace Over Perfection: Transition periods are hard. Giving yourself permission to let non-essentials slide is key to surviving the week.
- One Hour at a Time: When the big picture feels overwhelming, just focus on the very next step in front of you.
To anyone else juggling career transitions, busy toddlers, and a household that refuses to stay tidy—I see you, and we’re going to get through it step by step. ☕✨
How do you reset when everything feels overwhelming?
